About
I’ve been playing guitar since I was 12. My first was a Japanese classical acoustic with nylon strings and a neck that probably needed a reset. I taught myself chords by listening to the radio and later playing along with cassettes of the Ramones, Minor Threat, and Dead Kennedys. Before long, I upgraded to my first electric guitar and picked up a DOD Flanger 670 from a local pawn shop. A new world of sound opened up, and I was hooked.
But my love for music wasn’t just about playing—I was equally fascinated by the inner workings of gear. I spent hours taking apart electronics just to see how they worked. That curiosity led me to my first job after high school in early 1996 at Digitech in Sandy, Utah. The environment was inspiring, and I had the chance to work with some incredible people—one of whom would go on to help revive and innovate some of DOD’s best pedals in decades. At the same time, my band was making a name for itself in Salt Lake City, playing shows with artists like Karate, Blonde Redhead, Retsin, and Cat Power.
In 1998, my band and I moved to L.A. You can probably guess how that went—chasing the dream, navigating the usual struggles, and watching all the classic clichés unfold. After a couple of years traveling, I eventually settled in New York City, where I got back into modifying guitars, amps, and circuits.
Over the years, I built and modified countless effects pedals, first as a hobby and then as a way to push my creativity further. In the summer of 2023, I officially launched Radio Wave Effects. After countless late nights prototyping, troubleshooting, and fine-tuning circuits, I realized this is what I was meant to do. I love every part of the process—even when things don’t go as planned. I’m excited to keep building, experimenting, and bringing new sounds to life. Stay tuned…
